About

Through the story of Julian Williams, an African-American surfer born in Hawaii, Makai moves through childhood, the ocean, prejudice and perseverance. The original music follows that current with restraint: aquatic, textured and cinematic writing, shaped as an inner presence rather than an explanation.

The five tracks extend the film’s central feeling: the ocean as a sensitive territory open to everyone, where memory, body and freedom move in the same current.
